Frequently Asked Questions

Upcoming Courses - Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the most common questions before booking a Safe Pass, First Aid or Manual Handling course with WorkSafe Ireland.

SOLAS Safe Pass

How much is the Safe Pass course in Ireland?
The SOLAS Safe Pass course is 175 EUR all-in at WorkSafe Ireland. That price includes the SOLAS registration card, all course materials and refreshments on the day. See full pricing and dates on our Safe Pass course page. No booking fee.
Can you do the Safe Pass course online?
No. SOLAS does not recognise any online-only Safe Pass. The course must be tutor-delivered in person. Cards issued by online-only providers are not valid on Irish construction sites. Book a tutor-led date from our Upcoming Courses page.
How long does a Safe Pass last in Ireland?
Four years from the date of issue. To renew you must sit the one-day course again in person - there is no online renewal accepted on Irish sites. Renewal dates are listed on our Safe Pass course page.
How long is the Safe Pass course?
One full day. The course runs from 8:00 am to approximately 4:00 pm, including the end-of-day assessment.
Where do you run the Safe Pass course in Dublin?
At our Tallaght venue, Uppercross Enterprises, Dublin 24 (D24 X8CT). Twenty-five minutes from Dublin city centre on the Luas Red Line, with free on-site parking. Full directions on our Contact page.
Where do you run the Safe Pass course in Wexford?
At the Ashdown Park Hotel, Gorey, Co. Wexford (Y25 V1D6). Free parking, accessible venue and central location for learners from across the south-east. Book a Gorey date from our Upcoming Courses calendar.

Emergency First Aid (1 Day, 120 EUR)

How much is the Emergency First Aid course?
120 EUR per learner at our Tallaght venue. The price includes course materials and the certificate. Full outline on our Emergency First Aid course page.
How long is the Emergency First Aid course?
One day, 9:30 am to approximately 4:30 pm. This is the recognised one-day workplace first-aider course where the full 3-day Responder is not legally required. See HSA first aid at work guidance for the full requirement.
What does the Emergency First Aid course cover?
Scene assessment, CPR for adults, children and infants, choking, AED (defibrillator) use, bleeding control, burns, shock and anaphylaxis, fractures and sprains, the recovery position and common medical emergencies including asthma, diabetes and epilepsy. Full syllabus on our Emergency First Aid page.

3-Day First Aid Responder (PHECC, 325 EUR)

How much is the 3-Day First Aid Responder course?
325 EUR per learner. The full 3-day PHECC-compliant programme is delivered at our Tallaght venue and includes the official PHECC certificate on completion. Full details on our First Aid Responder course page.
Is the 3-Day Responder the same as FETAC / QQI Level 5 first aid?
Yes, for practical purposes. The PHECC First Aid Responder course is the recognised replacement for the old FETAC / QQI Level 5 Occupational First Aid award. If your employer policy still references FETAC Level 5, the PHECC Responder qualification satisfies it. Book on our Responder course page.
How often do I need to renew the First Aid Responder cert?
Every two years. We run refresher dates throughout the year on our Upcoming Courses calendar. Contact us before your current certificate lapses to secure a place.

Manual Handling

How long is the Manual Handling course?
Half a day, approximately three and a half hours including the practical assessment. See dates and pricing on our Manual Handling course page.
Is Manual Handling training a legal requirement in Ireland?
Yes. Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, every employer must provide manual handling training to any employee who lifts, lowers, pushes, pulls or carries loads at work. See the HSA Manual Handling guidance for the full requirement.
Do you provide on-site training for groups?
Yes. For groups of six or more learners we travel anywhere in Leinster and deliver the course at your premises. Request a quote on our Contact page or email info@worksafe.ie.
