How to book a Safe Pass course — Kilkenny workers' 4 steps

- Pass the assessment. The end-of-day assessment is supervised by your SOLAS-registered tutor, and the workbook is handed out on the day so you can prepare as you go.
- Receive your SOLAS card. SOLAS issues your Safe Pass card by post, usually within about two weeks. It's valid for 4 years on any construction site in Ireland.

Can you do a Safe Pass course online?
Searches for online Safe Pass courses have surged — so here is the straight answer. The initial Safe Pass course must be completed in person with a SOLAS-registered tutor, because the assessment has to be supervised — it cannot be done fully online, and there is no fully online Safe Pass course Kilkenny workers can legitimately book anywhere. Since 2023, existing card holders can renew through SOLAS's computer-based test at an approved centre. For first-time cards and for most renewals, the 1-day tutor-led course remains the route. Safe Pass is the mandatory one-day health and safety awareness programme for construction workers in Ireland, operated and managed by SOLAS. Completing the course earns you a SOLAS Safe Pass registration card, which is required to work on construction sites and is valid for 4 years.
You must be 16 or older and bring photo ID and a valid PPS number. You also need written and spoken English to complete the course and assessment. If you do not have a PPS number, contact us on 053 94 81445 before booking.
