Refund and Returns Policy
Cancellations, transfers and refunds for WorkSafe Ireland training courses.

This page sets out the refund, transfer and cancellation policy that applies to every training course booked with WorkSafe Ireland, including SOLAS Safe Pass, Manual Handling, First Aid, Fire Safety, Forklift, MEWP, IOSH Managing Safely and School Caretaker courses. It reflects section 2 of our Terms and Conditions.
Refund policy at a glance
The following points are quoted word for word from section 2 of our Terms and Conditions:
- “Cancellations made more than 5 working days before the course date may receive a full refund or transfer to another date.”
- “Cancellations made within 5 working days of the course may incur an administration fee.”
- “Cancellations made within 48 hours of the course or non-attendance may result in loss of full course fee.”
- “Participants may nominate a substitute attendee up to 24 hours before the course, subject to eligibility requirements.”
- “We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a course due to insufficient numbers, instructor illness, venue issues, or circumstances beyond our control. In such cases, participants will be offered: An alternative date, or A full refund”
1. Scope of this refund and returns policy
Training courses are a service rather than a physical product, so this refund and returns policy covers cancellations, transfers, substitutions and refunds of course fees. It applies to bookings made online through our upcoming courses page, by phone, or by invoice, and to payments made through our Make A Payment page.
2. Cancellation by the participant
| Notice given before the course | What happens |
|---|---|
| More than 5 working days | “Cancellations made more than 5 working days before the course date may receive a full refund or transfer to another date.” |
| Within 5 working days | “Cancellations made within 5 working days of the course may incur an administration fee.” |
| Within 48 hours, or non-attendance | “Cancellations made within 48 hours of the course or non-attendance may result in loss of full course fee.” |
To cancel or transfer a booking, contact us through the contact page and quote your booking reference, course name and course date.
Substitutions
“Participants may nominate a substitute attendee up to 24 hours before the course, subject to eligibility requirements.”
3. Cancellation by WorkSafe Ireland
“We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a course due to insufficient numbers, instructor illness, venue issues, or circumstances beyond our control. In such cases, participants will be offered: An alternative date, or A full refund” “We are not liable for travel or other related expenses.”
4. Where a refund is not given
- “Late arrivals may be refused entry in accordance with Solás regulations.” (SOLAS)
- “Failure to meet course requirements may result in refusal of certification without refund.”
- “Participants removed for misconduct will not receive a refund.”
- “Replacement certificates/cards may incur an administration fee.”
5. How refunds are processed
Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method. Card payments are processed securely by Stripe; the time a refund takes to appear depends on your bank or card issuer. Your statutory rights as a consumer in Ireland are set out by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, and general workplace training obligations are explained by the Health and Safety Authority.

How to use this refund and returns policy
Read this refund and returns policy before you book, and again if your plans change. Everything below is additional guidance on the policy already set out above — the wording of the policy itself, and of section 2 of our Terms and Conditions, is unchanged.
Step 1 — check the notice period in the refund and returns policy
Count working days between today and your course date. More than 5 working days notice keeps both options open: a full refund, or a free transfer to another date. Inside 5 working days an administration fee may apply, and inside 48 hours the course fee may be lost in full.
Step 2 — tell us in writing
Under this refund and returns policy, cancellations, transfers and substitute attendees are dealt with in the order they reach us, so put the request in writing and keep a copy. Include the attendee name, the course, the course date and the venue — either Belgard Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24 or Gorey Business Park, Gorey, Co. Wexford. If you would rather speak to someone first, call 053 94 81445.
Step 3 — choose a refund or a transfer under the refund and returns policy
Under this refund and returns policy a transfer keeps the money you have already paid against a future course, which is normally the faster option for employers with a deadline. A refund returns the payment to the card or account it came from.
Refund and returns policy by course type
This refund and returns policy applies to every course we run, whatever the awarding body:
- SOLAS Safe Pass — registration is made with SOLAS in the attendee’s name, so give as much notice as you can.
- Manual Handling and Manual Handling in Dublin.
- First Aid Responder and First Aid Refresher courses.
- Fire Warden and Fire Extinguisher training.
- IOSH Managing Safely, forklift, MEWP and school caretaker courses.
On-site and closed company courses are booked as a single group booking, so the notice period in this refund and returns policy runs against the group date rather than against each attendee.
Your statutory rights
Nothing in this refund and returns policy removes rights given to consumers by Irish or EU law. Guidance on consumer rights for services is published by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, and health and safety training duties for employers are set out by the Health and Safety Authority.
