Health and Safety Training Ireland — Over 70 Years

Health and safety training Ireland has been our life’s work. Established in 2001 by Declan Gibney, Chartered Fellow and Member of Council of IOSH (www.iosh.com) , Synergy Risk Management Limited, incorporating Work Safe Ireland and Pulse Medical (www.pulsemedical.ie), are proud to be the leading providers of health and safety consultancy and training services in Ireland. Our team of Chartered Safety and Health Consultants, Consultant Fire Engineers, Ergonomists and Legal Experts are available to offer your business advice and guidance on all health and safety management matters no matter how small or large your organisation. It is our belief that health and safety management is a vital ingredient of good business management and that managing risk ultimately saves lives, saves money and enhances performance.

Health and Safety Training Ireland: A Professional, Dependable Service

We have a long and proud involvement in health and safety management going back to 1951 (that’s over 70 years!!). John Gibney, then City Fire Officer with Dublin Fire Brigade started supplying and servicing fire extinguishers in the city and training was soon added to the service. Twins Terry and Michael Gibney joined their father in the business and developed “Fire and Safety Consultant Services” before going on to form the “National Industrial Fire and Safety Training Company” (NIFAST) in 1987. 3 generations later, Synergy Risk Management started trading in late 2001 and expanded more recently to include Worksafe Ireland and Pulse Medical.

Throughout all these years the same values have been maintained at all times – professional and dependable service with a flexible and common sense approach. To some in business, health and safety management is a cost with no return; to us it’s a culture that develops from the top and says “if the work can’t be done safely, it can’t be done at all”. If you ever think managing health and safety is expensive, remember one thing – accidents kill and seriously injure people at work (up to 56 people a year killed at work in Ireland in the past 10 years) cost money (up to €3 billion to Irish economy annually) and damage business reputations.

Health and Safety management is integral to the success of every business – a successful business is a safe business. We are your partners in achieving success – welcome to Worksafe Ireland.

About WorkSafe Ireland — Health and Safety Training Ireland Since 1953

Family-owned, Chartered Fellow IOSH-led, and Ireland's longest-established health and safety training provider — delivering SOLAS, PHECC and QQI-accredited courses in all 32 counties.

WorkSafe Ireland has been the trusted name in health and safety training Ireland for over 70 years. Founded in 1953 and led today by Chartered Fellow IOSH Declan Gibney (CFIOSH), we train more than 8,000 Irish workers a year in Safe Pass, Manual Handling, First Aid Response and QQI Level 5 & 6 safety qualifications — from our purpose-built Dublin centre and on-site anywhere in Ireland.

Our Story — Delivering Health and Safety Training Across Ireland Since 1953

WorkSafe Ireland began in 1953 as a family-run occupational safety consultancy serving Dublin's post-war construction boom. Three generations on, we remain Irish-owned and independent — now operating a purpose-built training centre in Finglas, North Dublin, plus a nationwide network of on-site instructors covering every county from Cork to Donegal.

Under the leadership of Declan Gibney, CFIOSH — one of only a small number of Chartered Fellows of IOSH working in Ireland — we've grown into one of the most recognised names in public and on-site health and safety training nationwide. Our clients range from single-owner trades to Ireland's largest construction, healthcare, hospitality and public-sector employers.

Health and Safety Training Ireland — FAQs

Who provides health and safety training in Ireland?

Health and safety training in Ireland is delivered by SOLAS-, PHECC- and QQI-approved centres. WorkSafe Ireland — founded in 1953 and led by Chartered Fellow IOSH Declan Gibney — is one of the country's longest-established providers, offering Safe Pass, Manual Handling, First Aid Response, Fire Warden and QQI Level 5 & 6 courses from Dublin and on-site nationwide.

Is health and safety training a legal requirement in Ireland?

Yes. Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, employers must provide "instruction, training and supervision" appropriate to each employee's role. Specific roles — construction workers (Safe Pass), manual handlers, first aiders, fire wardens — require named certifications. WorkSafe Ireland delivers every course needed to comply.

What health and safety courses does WorkSafe Ireland offer?

SOLAS Safe Pass, Manual Handling, PHECC First Aid Response (FAR) + annual refresher, Fire Warden / Fire Safety, Working at Heights, Abrasive Wheels, Confined Spaces, MEWP / IPAF, plus QQI Level 5 & 6 safety awards. See the upcoming courses calendar for public dates.

How much does health and safety training cost in Ireland?

Pricing depends on course, group size and location. As a guide: Safe Pass from €130 per delegate, Manual Handling from €65, First Aid Response from €395. On-site group training for 6+ delegates typically reduces per-head cost by 20–35%. Email info@worksafe.ie for a same-day group quote.

Does WorkSafe Ireland deliver training outside Dublin?

Yes — we deliver on-site health and safety training in all 32 counties of Ireland. We also run scheduled public courses in Dublin, plus regular satellite dates in Cork, Galway, Wexford and Mullingar. Minimum group size for on-site delivery is usually 6 delegates.
